University of California, Davis Health
Senior Project Manager
Stefan Toma is a Romanian immigrant who moved to the US in 2001 and started his career at UC Davis Health in 2002. Moving to the US with high career and educational aspirations, Stefan graduated in 2007 from University of San Francisco (USF) with a master of public administration degree. The degree he pursued had an emphasis in health sciences administration, which conferred him the proper trail for the working environment he was in at the time.

Stefan worked in the Office of Graduate Medical Education at UC Davis Medical Center since August 2007 as the online analyst for the department, having been assigned the role of Project Manager for Online Education. One of the main responsibilities in this job was the leading role of the online orientation project for the new incoming house staff residents and fellows, a first of its kind project throughout the entire University of California system.

After gaining the experience in project management, Stefan formalized his knowledge by earning the PMP certification in 2014 and his PMI-ACP and Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certifications in 2019. He currently works as an IT Project Manager, coordinating implementation of clinical systems for various departments, such as cardiology, pharmacy, neurology, and radiation-oncology.

As an immigrant, Stefan is very passionate about cultural diversity, inclusion, and all related values about the concept; this carried him on various volunteer initiatives at the institution where he works, which led him ultimately to be elected to serve as an officer in the Staff Advisory Committee for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (SAC-EDI) for the Health System. He is constantly engaged in ideas and actions that promote and highlight this notion.

Stefan is married with Alina, and has two daughters Theodora (13) and Emma (11). He is passionate about multi-cultural diversity, music, travel, and train modeling.
