Project managers (PMs) typically have little to no authority or asset ownership beyond the charter, placing a premium on influence-based leadership. But how do PMs develop an influence-based leadership mindset? By exploring how influence works in a similar environment - the military! Military leaders have been achieving do-or-die, risk-laden projects for millennia…through influence! The Influence-based Leadership Mindset was distilled using a 3-round Delphi technique with seven senior military leaders-turned-successful project managers, providing attendees with a mindset proven to increase team performance!

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to: 1) Describe leadership's role in general management; 2) Compare and contrast civilian and military project environments; 3) Describe a proven Influence-based leadership mindset.
